Baby Monitors Help Give You A Little Peace Of Mind.

When you have a baby, life still happens. Some days, things need to be done around the house: some cleaning, maybe a little gardening. At night, you certainly need to try and get some rest. Maybe somewhere in between you just need a little break. Unfortunately, as much as you'd like to, it's just not possible to spend every minute of every day watching your baby. That's where baby monitors come in. A baby monitor gives you the freedom to move about your house while still knowing what is going on with your child.

A baby monitor, in essence, is a radio transmitter and basically consists of two parts: the transmitter itself, and a receiver. Usually, the transmitter is set up within 10 feet of your baby's crib, while the receiver is either carried on your person or set up next to where you are planning on being - in bed, for example. This allows you to listen for any crying or shuffling, or even the sweet sound of silence, and helps give you a little peace of mind.

There are some different options to consider when deciding on the best baby monitor for you. Some monitor models come with a second receiver. This can be helpful if it's more convenient for you to keep one receiver set up in the bedroom at all times, but would still like to be able to monitor baby while you are in other areas of the house. The size of the units may be important to you, as a smaller one may be easier to carry with you as you move about. There are also baby monitors that let you talk to your child as well as hear what they are doing, giving you the ability to perhaps soothe your child from another room if need be. Some other handy features are a low battery light and a sound activated light - useful if there is something going on that is louder than the monitor's volume. You can even get baby video monitors that transmit video to the receiver so you can see what your baby is doing as well as hear them!

One last thing to think about when looking for baby monitors is reception. Because of the type of technology wireless baby monitors work on, there may be some interference in the reception from things like cordless phones or other baby monitors in the area. Look for baby monitors with more than one channel from companies like Graco, or Sony. More than one channel on your monitor will give you the ability to try and find a clearer signal if need be.
