Strollers: When You Just Have To Leave The House, Your Baby Needs A Ride!
|
Not only do you need to leave the house for errands, but sometimes you just need to get out and go for some fresh air. Walking outside is a great way to get some exercise and show your baby the outside world. For this, you will need a baby stroller. There are lots of strollers to choose from, and you will need to make some decisions about what type you want to get.
If you are a runner, or just want to have a jogging stroller because they look neat, these are the most modern strollers available. The first jogger stroller on the market was the Baby Jogger stroller, and these are still very popular. Some other good brands are: Dreamer Design, Chariot Carriers, Phil & Ted's, and Bugaboo strollers. BOB strollers are also top of the line jogging strollers, and are even endorsed by Ironman.
If you aren't a jogger but enjoy power walking, or want something hardier than a regular infant stroller, than have a look at a swivel wheel stroller - they are a lot more functional. They have air-filled tires, which mean they are easy to push, and the swivel wheel makes them easy to maneuver.
When looking to buy a regular stroller, you might want to think about getting two: one lightweight stroller for trips to the store, or for traveling with, and a heavier one for walks at the park. You need to look for features such as storage space, amount of recline ability (infants need total recline), and foldability (a one hand fold is a good idea). A car seat stroller is sometimes a good option for an infant; these can double as an infant carrier, a stay-in car base, and a compatible stroller.
If you've been blessed with more than one little one, you will need a double stroller, or maybe even a triple stroller! You can find a jogging type (the Gozo stroller) but many other companies make good multiple strollers; Graco and Peg Perego strollers are excellent choices. Valco Baby, Inglesina, and Dreamer Design are good as well. Have a look, and ask questions about what you may need with more than one baby. Don't forget, you will need something sturdy, maneuverable, and reasonably lightweight. Make sure that you will have enough storage to suit your needs, and check how easy the setup of the stroller is - this will be even more important when handling more than one baby!
Be careful if you are looking for a used stroller; be sure that it is intact, and that it meets modern safety requirements - stroller reviews and standards can be found online. Look online and at baby furniture stores to find the best strollers; ask questions until you find the right one for your baby.
